“Back in February of 2010 I described sax player Michael J Thomas as being possibly the smooth jazz find of that year. His debut CD, ‘City Beat’, was
a tremendously accomplished piece of work and now, with the emphasis switched firmly to the radio single, he has released the hugely accessible ‘I Think About Amy’. Available as a ‘maxi-single’ with both vocal and instrumental versions, it is a tune that blends the best elements of contemporary jazz and R&B with more pop orientated flavorings. Not only that, given Michael writes, plays alto and (on the vocal version) sings throughout this memorable recording is a wonderful showcase for his undoubted versatility. It is certain to be in my top twenty for 2011.”

“Destin's saxman now ‘The Voice' Michael J Thomas debuts as vocal artist Everyone probably knows a person who touched their life in a wonderful way and made it better — someone who was a person of conviction, warmth, inspiration and true beauty. In October 2010, Thomas began writing a lot of new material during a difficult and painful period in his life. “It was just flowing out of me and it helped me cope,” Thomas told The Log. “This song came out of that time period, and because it was so personal to me I didn't want anyone else to sing it.” The maxi-single, written and performed by Thomas, saxophonist and now vocalist, blends the best elements of contemporary jazz and R&B with sweet popular flavorings to produce...click on URL t”

“Thomas releasing new music; chorus, the Rep seek A couple of weeks ago, I featured favorite local musician Michael J Thomas on the Buzzworthy page. Little did I know that a week later I’d receive even more buzzworthy news from him. On Aug. 29, Michael will release the maxi-single “I Think about Amy” to the airwaves. This comes nearly a year since the release of Michael’s first single, “City Beat,” to smooth jazz radio in 2010. “I’m very excited about my second release to radio under the label Woodward Avenue Records,” he wrote in an email. “‘I Think about Amy’ is my debut as a vocalist. “It was written during a very diffcult time in my life and I felt it was too personal to let a guest vocalist sing. “It turned out to be a good thing, and now I sing on my gigs as well. This vocal enables us to not only promote the single to smooth jazz radio but also attempt for a crossover into adult contemporary radio.” Michael already has a follo....click URL to ”

In high school he earned a music scholarship to University of Kentucky and his senior year was spent performing in the All-State Jazz Band where he was honored with a John Philip Sousa Award. After leaving college at 19 to pursue his career, Michael joined Jive Rockets who opened for the Brian Setzer Orchestra, Big Bad Voo Doo Daddy and Bill Haley's Original Comets. Michael's love of big cities has inspired many of the tracks on the album "City Beat" which had a fantastic following, the day of the release it was in #4 on the Amazon smooth jazz chart! Five of the "City Beat" songs have been featured on The Weather Channel as well.
